Low hardness can be corrosive to a spa's metal components, as well as pool plaster, and can cause water foaming. High hardness contributes to scale and cloudy water. Just dip test strip in pool or spa water for 1 second and remove to compare to color chart. Much easier than complicated liquid test kits.
