This NEW indexing system is designed for larger wood lathes and is a complete "universal" system for indexing on most 10 to 24 inch lathes with a 1 1/4 inch spindle!
The system consists of a 10 inch*, extensively laser engraved, anodized aluminum plate with a 1.255 inch center ID spindle hole, NOW with four concentric rows of indexing holes.
The outer row of 144 holes are spaced 2 1/2° apart, the middle row of 120 holes are 3° apart, the third row of 90 holes are 4° apart and the NEW inner row of holes are 22 1/2°
. This combination allows the user to adjust for virtually any position around the circumference of your turning! Included is a heavy aluminum base with 2 very, very strong, 3/4 inch diameter "rare-earth" magnets to secure the bracket to your cast iron/steel bed ways, (also has a threaded 1/4 X 20 tpi hole for those who wish to attach it more permanently to your lathe or to a wooden wooden jig),  a "dog point" indexing screw and a 1 1/4 inch X 8 tpi threaded jam nut to secure the indexing plate on your spindle. You may also secure the plate to the spindle with your lathe's chuck or faceplate. The bracket  is easily removed when not using the index plate.
Customize your turnings quickly and easily just by aligning the indexing screw to any hole you choose and your ink, paint, router or carving tools add your personal artistic touch to your work!
    *actual diameter is 9.94 inches
A very small number of lathes have a spindle that has a “thread relief” or recess beyond the threaded portion of the spindle before it goes into the headstock casting. If you have this type of spindle you will need to make/turn a spacer to allow the indexing plate to center on the spindle. The GRIZZLY G0632, DELTA 46-755 & 46-715, POWEREMATIC 3520 B, are lathes with this situation that we know about so far but there may be others. So check your spindle first!
NOVA 1624 or DVR lathes you will need to make a bushing because the Nova's spindle enters the headstock bearing without having a shoulder on the spindle. Our, or any indexing plate when placed on the spindle will "bottom out" up against the headstock and not be able to move. A diagram with a bushing plan will be included.
